Where were you on America’s Independence Day?

Maybe you were somewhere eating a fat barbequed steak

Or maybe you were outside lighting up the sky

In remembrance of the great day

The war that was fought,

As Britain’s Navy finally gave way

But that’s not where I was as I can recall

And for those who can’t remember let me tell it all

For me in old 1776

My father lay dead

Under tumble weeds and sticks

My mother cried for her starving,

Dieing and dead children

As she clung to bodies near rough and decay

While Americans continued to conquer our land

Without haste or delay

You know where I was in July of 1776?

I was in a slave quarter getting my

Motha fuckin ass kicked!

I watched my brother and my father die from the whip

And whatever hope or dignity

I could have had left

Was taken as my mother was raped and stripped

You can be a confused “American”

But please don’t let me point out and say,

You so called “American’s” don’t even celebrate

Your independence on the right damn day

During the American Revolution, the legal separation

Of the American colonies from Great Britain occurred on July 2nd,

Signing the declaration was just a formality on the 4th, now what you have to say?

I can think of a few choice words,

But we can start with ignorant, because

The majority of BBQ smoke

And cherry bomb blast was coming from your house

While on July 4, 1776 in celebration, “Americans”

were hanging Niggas in the South

We have been sold this patriotic bull for so long

That now we willingly go out and buy that shit!

Americans have been killing me off since they first arrived

From straight annihilation, to starvation on reservations,

Slavery and mis-education and now Mc Donalds,

Cuz just like the gun and liquor store,

There’s one on every corner in the hood

So where were you on “Independence Day?”
